Today I am a tiny bit hungover. Last night I was over at Leda and Charlie's for lovely risotto and wine and drunken singing past midnight, with a couple of their friends who I hadn't met before, Ed and Polly. Within five minutes, while sitting at the dinner table, I managed to call Ed a dwarf (accidentally) and tip a glass of wine into his lap. It's amazing I get invited anywhere, really.

Spilling the wine I can understand, but how do you manage to call someone a dwarf 'accidentally'?

The gentleman in question is 5'5" (and a half, apparently), and is on the constant receiving end of jokes about his height from Charlie. He's also quite a funny chap. When sitting down to dinner we ended up talking about medieval banqueting, for some reasons:

Me: "All we need to complete the picture is a bear in a cage..."
Ed: "So we can poke it with sticks!"
*laughter*
Me (without thinking): "And maybe some sort of...comedy dwarf!"

Good god.
